Aspiring Heads of Department Training
This is a one day training programme to address the development needs of those who would like to become Heads of Department.
This annual event takes place in the Autumn or Spring term of the academic year and is designed to cater for that pool of latent talent amongst S7 which is made up of staff who are looking to achieve Heads of Department positions in the relatively near future.
A whole-day programme has been put together to focus on some of the key: skills, knowledge, application and interview technique awareness and downright savvy approach needed by the would-be head of department. Topics covered include: Making applications; addressing the skills needed to become a successful Head of Department as well as some of the skills needed once in post such as Leading the team and moving from team member to team leader.
All of these sessions are run as short, hands-on presentations delivered by new and recently appointed S7 heads of department who are able to reflect on and share their own recent experiences.
In addition, a question and answer session with senior staff will be on offer for Aspiring Heads of Department to hear what senior managers are particularly looking for in Aspiring Heads of Department.
