The programmes lead to initial teaching qualifications for those who teach in sixth form colleges, further education colleges, adult education centres, art colleges, healthcare or community organisations, the public services and a wide range of commercial and voluntary organisations.
The PGCE is for students who have an undergraduate degree in their taught area and the PCE is for students who have significant work experience and a level 3 qualification in their taught area (e.g. A levels, BTEC, NVQ).
Both programmes are taught together and are currently offered in a part-time mode of study on Monday evenings from 6.00 - 9.00pm, with two tutorials per year from 5.15 - 5.45pm. Some sessions during the year will be run online instead of in class. The programmes last 2 years in total and are aimed at teachers and trainers who are already employed.
