Professor Frank Coffield
Professor Coffield has long been a champion of the learner, challenging successive governments to address the key issues that underpin successful educational practice rather than creating superstructures of policy that fail to address the central question of how to improve teaching and learning A Professor at the Institute of Education until December 2007, Frank Coffield has produced several seminal papers that have had a significant impact on educational research and thinking, but – most critically - also with educators themselves. In February 2008, the Learning and Skills Network together with the Centre for Excellence in Leadership took up Frank’s challenge and delivered a conference designed to re-engage with what really raises standards at a conference called Leading Teaching and Learning. His draft pamphlet to focus thinking and engage teachers in debate is here below and is entitled "Just Suppose Teaching and Learning Became the First Priority.. " This is the title of his talk for S7 on Thursday 5th June. Read it and see what you think!
